Orchestre symphonique de Montréal

Created in 2018, OSMose is an Orchestre symphonique de Montréal initiative designed to remove barriers between the concert hall and audiences with diverse needs. It combines educational activities, concert-preparation resources and relaxed performances, allowing schools and families to experience symphonic music in a more welcoming and accessible setting.

As part of the initiative, Giant Steps provided specialized autism and neuroinclusion training to OSM teams. The training offered practical guidance for understanding sensory and communication differences, welcoming autistic audience members and responding flexibly to individual needs throughout the concert experience.

The relaxed OSMose format recognizes and welcomes different ways of listening, moving and engaging with music. The partnership demonstrates how thoughtful preparation, staff training and inclusive practices can make cultural experiences more accessible to everyone.
