Espace pour la vie
Through ongoing collaboration with museums, Giant Steps works to enhance accessibility and create more welcoming visitor experiences for autistic individuals and their families.
In partnership with Espace pour la vie, Giant Steps has supported the implementation of sensory-aware adaptations across Montréal’s science and nature museums, including the Biodôme, Biosphère, Insectarium, Jardin botanique, and Planetarium. Sensory kits are available to visitors, offering tools to help regulate sensory input and reduce anxiety during visits.
At the Planetarium, this collaboration led to the creation of the Adapted Moments initiative—dedicated visiting times designed for autistic individuals and others with sensory sensitivities. During these sessions, sound and lighting levels are adjusted, expectations are clearly communicated in advance, and visitors are free to move, take breaks, or leave as needed.
Together, these efforts help create more inclusive, predictable, and enjoyable cultural experiences for all.
